After the second lockdown, FIMFA was once again one of the first festivals to be held with live audiences and artists on stage.

From the 4th to the 23rd of May, FIMFA occupied Lisbon with performances and other activities, such as films screenings. Over twenty days, fifteen shows by fourteen companies were presented, mostly Portuguese premieres, from eight countries: France, Norway, Belgium, Chile, Germany, Italy, China and Portugal.

In this context, several questions arose: Will the people come or will they be afraid? Will the company and its team be able to maintain the announced program and will all foreign artists be able to perform in Lisbon?

All the safety rules were respected and practically all the shows were sold out and filled several spaces, such as Teatro Nacional D. Maria II, São Luiz Teatro Municipal, LU.CA - Teatro Luís de Camões, Teatro do Bairro, Theater Taborda, Museu de Lisboa - Palácio Pimenta, a Cinemateca Portuguesa and Centro Cultural da Malaposta.

The documentary has testimonies and behind the scenes of some of the performances, namely, with Yngvild Aspeli, artistic director of the company Plexus Polaire, who enchanted the public with “Moby Dick”, the show that opened FIMFA and ended up doing in Lisbon its world premiere with live audience.

A journey through another edition carried out in pandemic times with most of the artists and companies participating in this edition: Plexus Polaire, Belova-Iacobelli, Limite Zero, Agnès Limbos - Cie Gare Centrale, Familie Flöz, Yeung Faï, Bonecos de Santo Aleixo, Teatro de Ferro, Teatro de Marionetas do Porto, Les Antliaclastes, Thalias Kompagnons, Fabrizio Rosselli, Madalena Marques, Fernando Mota and Radar 360.

This is the third documentary produced about FIMFA and participating companies and artists. It is part of the archive, documentation and promotion project on puppetry and animated forms that has been developed by A Tarumba.

⇨ The link for watching will be made available on 23rd November at the website and social networks of A Tarumba / FIMFA, and it will be available for free until 31st December.
