Masterclass targeted at professionals and enthusiasts from diverse backgrounds looking to explore new artistic research and workflows.
An experimental session rooted in the creative vision of Isabel Barros (Artistic Director of Teatro de Marionetas do Porto), focusing on the crossover between dance, drama, puppetry, and object theatre.

Starting from the body, the gesture, the movement, and the relationship between bodies. The body as a fragment, which proposes to 'represent' a momentary reality. A kind of canvas through which new images are formed, a synthesis of bodies, a dialectic between the living and the inanimate.

The relationship of the object with the actor, the actor’s body as an extension of the puppet. Creation as a space for dialogue between bodies, objects, music, and all the disciplines summoned in each creative process.

 

BIO

Choreographer, director, and co-founder of balleteatro (1983), she has been the Artistic Director of Teatro de Marionetas do Porto since 2010 and of the Porto Puppet Museum (Museu das Marionetas do Porto), which opened in February 2013. She has an extensive career in artistic creation, marked by the intersection of different languages, namely dance, theatre, and puppetry. She received the Almada Prize (1999) awarded to balleteatro, in recognition of its programming work. She is a guest lecturer at the Escola Superior de Educação de Lisboa (ESELx) in the Postgraduate Programme in Puppetry and Animated Forms, at the Summer School for Actors/Teatro do Noroeste - Centro Dramático de Viana, and at various national and international institutions.
In 2018, she was awarded the Medal of Merit - Gold Grade. Porto is her city of origin and her city of choice, where she develops most of her work with a sense of urgency and a strong social dimension.
