An exciting story full of visual effects, magic lanterns, shadows, and live music.
The surprising adventures of Ring-Ring, a bicycle bell that one day jumps off the handlebar! Lost but brave, she embarks on a journey in search of her bicycle, passing through magical landscapes and dangerous places, filled with strange creatures and unexpected encounters. Will Ring-Ring succeed? We are left in suspense until the end…
"Ring-Ring" is inspired by Richard Wagner's The Ring of the Nibelung (Der Ring des Nibelungen) and performed in a unique way by the Lichtbende company, full of full of eye-catching visual finds. The music of Ring-Ring has been specially arranged for this performance and composed for accordion, percussion and live electronics. Leading motifs from the opera become as strange and surprising as the visuals in this story.
The company Lichtbende has visited FIMFA several times and is known for its poetic shows, with a unique combination of manually animated projections and live music. All the performers' actions are visible to the audience. Everyday materials are transformed into vibrant characters. A fusion of visual art, theatre and music, for all those who are open to new performative forms and want to be taken into a wonderful world of music and light.
BIO
Lichtbende is an internationally operating theatre company from the Netherlands, founded in 2010. The company creates contemporary art performances using magic lanterns in combination with live music. Lichtbende is formed by artists Marie Raemakers, Rob Logister and musician/composer Axel Schappert. Inspired and fascinated by the surprising images and story's that their work with children have produced, they have worked with light and shadow for more than twenty years.
Lichtbende has its roots in the combination of two groups, theatre group Musiscoop that participated in FIMFA Lx10, and cultural education group Projectie Project. Over fifteen years of experimenting with light/shadow images by both groups has culminated in Lichtbende, that presented “Pouf” in FIMFA Lx13 and “Tutu” in FIMFA Lx16. Lichtbende has combined all these experiences with projections and live music, which are specially designed for each new creation, giving rise to contemporary and experimental magic lantern shows and other devices.
