An installation and performative conference of community documentary object theatre, in a special production for FIMFA by Agencia El Solar. Detectives de Objetos, formed by Shaday Larios, Jomi Oligor (Oligor y Microscopía) and Xavier Bobés, who have been dedicated to solving cases for ten years, after residencies in various communities, such as carpentry shops, botanical gardens, museum collections, gentrified and disappeared neighbourhoods or medical corporations, among others.
For the first time they will open all their archives, files and suitcases in an interactive office, which is simultaneously a stage and an installation. Over the course of the days, the eight cases they have solved will be activated. They will share their investigations into memory, territory and community. The documentary object theatre opens up as a great observatory of our socio-material relations and the politics of the subtle.
El Solar is a detective agency of objects, a portable research office specializing in field work, an ethnographic research of people and their belongings; and how, through the same singular collective history, a specific community is portrayed.
Their objective is to visualize the memories and experiences stored in the objects of the inhabitants of a specific place; and from there investigate close knit relationships within the space and propose a reflection about the present space and time of that specific neighborhood and/or city, as well as the transformations and transitions of certain material culture.
With this in mind they aim to build documentary object theatre, scenic devices where the appeal of the project is the testimonial potential that exists within the life cycles of these objects together with the actual stories.
Detective agencies are small rooms for secrets. Over the years they have solved emblematic cases, such as that of a 70-year-old carpentry shop in Girona, run by four generations of carpenters, where nothing was ever thrown away; or in Barcelona, about a shanty town silenced by official historical reports, and where there is now a Botanical Garden.
Shaday Larios and Jomi Oligor are already well known to all FIMFA spectators through their company Oligor y Microscopía, and they have visited us every five years with their meticulous and delicate works on documentary object theatre. At Descon'FIMFA Lx20, in the midst of the pandemic, they presented La Melancolía del Turista and La Máquina de la Soledad, which they had shown for the first time in 2015. On the other hand, many of you remember an emblematic show, Las Tribulaciones de Virginia, by the Hermanos Oligor, which they performed in the 2005 and 2010 editions. How could we celebrate 25 years without them? It is a pleasure to welcome them back, this time as part of Agencia El Solar, and to be able to see the cases solved using their unique language. The detective is like the magician, he provokes appearances and disappearances. He himself appears and disappears.

BIO
El Solar was created by Shaday Larios, Jomi Oligor and Xavier Bobés. These three individuals, each on their own, have carried out research works on the notion of the poetics of objects and their scenic potential. Each one of them comes from very different and particular worlds´, however they share a passion for the memory that accrues itself on everyday objects and spaces. Their creative processes travel between the oneiric and the documentary, between fantasy and life, micrology and fragility.
In recent years, they have reflected, tested and practiced together in order to take the documentary capabilities of seemingly insignificant objects to its limits. They collaborate in making them visible through careful tactics. They agree on how to relate to people and environments, and conspire what can be detected, is disclosed and intuited behind the silences that run in the material vastness that surrounds us. They consider that the detection of these “infra-realities” in objects constitute a sort of detective trade, whose mission it is to shade light on the most subtle transitions, which are affected by our objectuality.
For this, they have created their own Agency.
Shaday Larios and Jomi Oligor, the two spirits of Oligor and Microscopía, started working together in 2013, after meeting at a festival in São Paulo and realising their work was following parallel paths. They both shared a particular interest for objects, memory, miniatures and fragility. Jomi and Shaday went into partnership to explore the documentary possibilities of the subject matter. Combining an artistic view with a more reflective dimension they have worked together on several projects, also presented very successfully at FIMFA. Their work has ranged from shows already presented at FIMFA, in the cases of Agencia El Solar, in the realisation of Documentary Object Theatre Laboratories and in the editing of several publications.
Xavier Bobés defines himself as a self-taught actor, artist, object manipulator and stage creator. Passionate about the poetics of objects, he has been researching for more than seventeen years with all kinds of everyday objects. He collaborates with other creators advising research and writing processes with the object as a starting point. His research looks for symbolic and theatrical content in objects and in everything that is apparently banal. Moreover, he is also interested in the triple artistic dimension of creation, testing and teaching. He took part in FIMFA Lx19 with Cosas que se olvidan facilmente.
