FIMFA Lx24 at Sinais de Cena
III - N. 3
Online Magazine
The new issue of Sinais de Cena magazine is available online, where you can find a beautiful article by Catarina Firmo, about some of the shows presented at FIMFA Lx24: "You Say You Want a Revolution. Puppets in Resistance at FIMFA Lx24 - La (Nouvelle) Ronde by Johanny Bert - Théâtre de Romette (FR), War Maker by Husam Abed - Dafa Puppet Theatre (JO-CZ), Apneia by Le Poisson Soluble (FR), Dura Dita Dura by Teatro de Ferro (PT) and Polaroid by MECANIkA (FR-PT).
"A year away from celebrating a quarter of a century and marking the 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution, FIMFA Lx24 brought an invitation to dispel the clouds of fear, recalling a song by Nina Simone: ‘I'll tell you what freedom is to me: no fear’. It was with this phrase in mind that Luís Vieira and Rute Ribeiro transformed Lisbon for twenty-five days to host twenty-three creations, where puppets launched new perspectives on the world. Against the backdrop of global turmoil, FIMFA dared to issue a manifesto against fear. Puppets to resist and counter reality, expanding the possibilities of dreaming outside the box. Animated forms were once again a challenge to revitalise the senses and the imagination, echoing places that demand freedom and diversity."
Shows presented at São Luiz Teatro Municipal, LU.CA - Teatro Luís de Camões and Teatro do Bairro.
